using humor, art, and radical curiosity to explore consciousness, technology, neurodiversity, biodiversity, and personal + planetary well-being.

Raised in New York City, Carlen Altman is an award-winning filmmaker, comedian, storyteller, public speaker, artist, and inventor whose work bridges media, humor, spirituality, environmentalism, wellness, design, and cultural change.

Her creative path has included on-air presenting and writing at MTV News, HBO’s High Maintenance, her award winninng film The Color Wheel, stand-up comedy, and pioneering projects like The Jewish Rosary™ — featured on The Today Show and carried by Urban Outfitters. Her work has been seen in outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, ELLE, The Sundance Channel and more.

After what she lovingly calls an “inconvenient spiritual awakening” in 2017, Carlen stepped away from mainstream entertainment, activism, and society to begin a decade long healing journey - studying detoxification, somatic and nervous system regulation, spirituality, and the deeper roots of personal and planetary imbalance.

On the educational and training front, Carlen holds a B.A. from Oberlin College, with a concentration in Psychology and Environmental Studies — along with certification as an Integrative Health Practitioner from IHP (‘2022) and double certifications in Spiritual Psychology and Advanced Spiritual Psychology (‘2019) from the Universiy of Santa Monica.

She also has trained extensively in comedy with Upright Citizen’s Brigade, The People’s Improv Theatre, HB Studio NYC - and has performed stand up comedy at Caroline’s New York, among other comedy venues.

Today, through her various projects - Earth To Carlen, 1-800-EARTH, and How To Get Your Sh*t Together, she is building a “New Paradigm of Humor and Healing.”

She uses comedy, storytelling, public speaking, media, and radical curiosity to help people imagine new ways of healing themselves, their communities, and the planet.

Based between the U.S. and Mexico, Carlen is available for select speaking engagements, collaborations, 1:1 sessions, and longer-term consulting projects.
